The Dutch government has lowered the VAT rate to zero for 'face masks' as of 25 May 2020, until 1 september 2020. VAT will no longer be charged on the purchase of face maks in the coming months. The aim of this measure is to reduce the cost of face maks (medical and non-medical) for consumers travelling by public transport. Applying the zero rate means that the seller retains his right to deduct input VAT.
