Brexit preparedness notices: Cosmetics

Introduction

During the article 50 negotiations, the European Commission (EC) has published so called preparedness notices for specific sectors. In specific sectors, also the UK government has published detailed guides for business on specific product safety regulations (as of 1-1-2021), in case the UK leaves the EU without a deal.

ProductIP will publish the relevant preparedness notices for product compliance. In this post the EU notice to stakeholders in the field of cosmetic products and UK guidance on cosmetics.

In view of the end of the transition periode, the EC is updating the preparedness notices. 

The subjects covered in the EU preparedness notice are:

A. Legal situation as of the end of the transition period

  1. Responsible person
  2. Notification in the Cosmetic Product Notification Portal
  3. Product Information File (PIF)
  4. Labelling
  5. Safety Assessor

B. Cosmetic products places in the EY or the UK market before the end of the transition period

C. Applicable rules in Northern Ireland after the end of the transition period
